  2. You need to factor in your own strengths and weaknesses when designing pretty much anything when you’re involved in a war. When you’ve got a supply line several thousands of miles long, the size and weight of what you’re attempting to transport can become an issue. Hence the Sherman’s size, its weight, and easy repair in the field. Quality is less of an issue, though you need something that’s going to work decently, and then keep on working, because capable, well trained workers aren’t going to be especially common at the front.
