  3.  @Madamchief This. Reprehensible Authoritarians Do. Not. Believe. In. Rights. Instead, they believe in privileges, which must be earned, and usually earned on an ongoing basis. More, what privileges one CAN earn, and what must be done to earn what privileges are allowed one, are largely determined by where one is in The Dominance Hierarchy. Money, RACE, Power, and Connections (and much else) determine one’s PLACE in that Damnable Hierarchy.

  9.  @Neo__The__Tv_  no. Rather, sanity. A “public health service” (most_generic term) simply makes sense, and that includes economic sense. A sickly and impoverished populace is a non-productive populace, or “a country’s chiefest wealth is its people, and hence investing in them is invariably an economically sound matter. “ More, it is also a Moral matter. Barbarism leads to destruction, and the road to ruin is a nasty one. These people have to know matters like the above, so their advocating such as they do makes for very dark thinking - as in, “are they doing this under their own delusions - or are they following orders?” Or, “if this is their own thinking - then just WHAT are their Goals?”

I might not be comfortable around such people, but that’s MY problem, not theirs - and, as someone born with disfigurement and multiple disabilities, I can (sort of) relate to what might be happening to them. “Do unto others as you would have them do to you,” is something I work hard to do.

  15.  @kimberlychodur3508  I’m thinking retired and or disabled people, but his figure’s a whole lot bigger than the true numbers of those two groups combined. Now, there’s a hole or three even in those two groups. There’s a lot of fees one gets to pay that are sort of like “taxes.” - Car? It needs Registration, Insurance, fuel, etc. Registration more less is tax. Fuel is usually taxed. Then there are sales taxes, but not all states have those. Then, there’s property taxes, if you own your home… What’s not mentioned is what amounts to “private taxation,” where being poor is costly “because you are poor,” and cannot jump through the hoops needed to avoid lots of private tax-like fees. (Pure Ayn Rand stuff!)

  27. I started voting in primaries in 2020 - which is an improvement from prior to 2008. Before that, I was socially blind (due to being disabled) - and hence did not “get” politics, as the social world and the political realm have the same rules, and blindness to social matters means one is apolitical because one cannot understand either realm. About 2010, I “received” a PARTIAL understanding of how a PORTION of the social world operates. This has been, very much, a mixed blessing - but one of the good parts is that I now vote regularly, and I try to do the best I can. My tendencies have come out in my writing, and when you write dystopian fiction as if you (distantly) knew George Orwell - you’re likely to have a similar understanding, at least in part.

And, if one is inclined that way - then one either is, or inclined to be, a Drumpfist. Not all Drumpfists are rubes. The truly dangerous ones often are educated, e.g. Deth’Santis currently - or Doktor Josef Goebbels. (yes, he had a Ph.D, in philology, from Heidelberg. Lots of Nazis were educated.)
