From a poem/song I wrote in 1995 or so:
“…wearing whited sheets,
The crosses burn,
They’re singing this song:”
“Pride in our nation,
Won’t carry your burdens,
Life is what you make of it,
Money is all.
Hew to our ways,
Can’t understand it,
Mindless conformity
Answers the call.”
“A southern man,
Is what we all ascribe to,
Don’t know who that may be,
But still we follow, blind!
The corner newspaper is the fount of all knowledge,
Color-coded we fall, but we’re never on our knees.”
The third verse is the kicker. It tells these godless, evil people to REPENT OF THEIR EVIL.
3
-
@kathysmith6413 they’ll need to come up with a replacement for the third verse, then.
“Your lack of wisdom,
Will prove to be your undoing,
We, All of Us, are cursed by the Fall.
Raise your fists, Curse at the heavens -
But if you Repent,
His blood covers all.”
They won’t like the rest of the first verse, either - as it speaks of Bigots and their evil behavior.
“Deep down in the delta,
Of old Mississippi,
The bigots run and ramble,
They straggle along.
They don’t say hello,
Or even, “How are you?” -
Wearing ….”
This was written when some people I knew took a road tour through the Deep South during (I think) the summer of 1995. I wrote this in response to the sense I was getting about how “Nasty” and Intolerant those who lived there were toward people who were not “just like them.”

@PhilLesh69 can confirm. I had people like you spoke of come after me, and I came (not sure just how close) to going down that same horrid road.
And yes, I was (in some ways, due to being disfigured with Goldenhar Syndrome, as well as being far more disabled than I then knew) lumped in with that last group you spoke of, so the harassment, abuse, and bullying continued into advanced middle age, i.e. late forties. It often became very violent.
The last forty years has been moving me, slowly but steadily, away from that pole of evil. Unfortunately, it has also given me an understanding of the thinking of the most extreme form of R.W.N.J.s, so I speak from that nightmare when they should speak to me. It often seems like I’ve somehow acquired the mindset of the author of the T. D.s - W. L. Pierce - when it gets really bad.
And yes, Müller (Miller is the anglicized version) isn’t a faint shadow of his N. German Namesake - Heinrich Müller, the head of the Secret State Police.

Just 82 degrees? It’s pushing 90 indoors here. No AC, and 115 F in Portland - new record. Never been this hot before.
You don’t need to sleep! (Quoth the Qult)
That said, Texas needs to fix its stuff right.
In the meantime: push fluids, and lick salt now and then.
Use 70% rubbing alcohol on a rag, and cool showers. Douse your clothing.
Park yourself in front of a fan. Stay indoors as much as you can
Open up between 1 and 7 am. Rest of the time, draw the blinds.
Don’t cook more than absolutely needed. Canned fruit and cold, non-caffeinated drinks….
Sleep when you can, and as much as you can. You won’t die if you cannot sleep, though it will feel horrible.
I still have PTSD from kicking psych drugs in the mid-nineties - no sleep for 2 months, and precious little for a further 6…. They thought I was crazy when I was actually disabled, so I should not have been on them, and the fatigue was due to a combination of chronic illnesses AND the need to burn the candle at both ends to simply survive.

@veronicawood8295 I don’t like being poked much myself, but I got fizzled (Pfizer vaccine) within days of becoming eligible in April of this year, with #2.doe four weeks later.
I’m one of those people that in the past - recent past, here; very recent past - that was described as being less than human by some. This is so much the case that it has really messed with my head, with PTSD being but one part.
Not just any kind of PTSD, but medical PTSD - similar as to quality, if not intensity, to someone who endured ww2 era medical experimentation. IVs are the very worst - I need Valium then, and ORs want it, too. Regular pokes merely hurt like red-hot ten-penny nails, as a rule.
So if an Under-Man like me can manage, then these greatly-superior R-W Over-Men should do this easy as cake. They do everything else easy as cake, so why not this?
I really mean this - they are not disabled; they are not disfigured from birth; they did not, and do not, endure the pangs of proscription; they did not have their very being labeled as defective and subhuman, and needing correction from infancy.

To the best of my (very limited) knowledge, the original idea behind Oregon was that “only w#!te people were permitted to live there, or own property, or similar.”
I also know that they had a pretty serious version of the Ugly Law(s) up here, which is one of the (very few) good things I recall about growing up in SoCal - no such laws existed there, which means my existence was not accounted a crime due to being born with “birth defects,” e.g. Goldenhar Syndrome. I’m partially deaf, from birth, and endured over a dozen (ptsd-inducing) surgeries on account of that and other “birth defects.”
So while I’ve not personally experienced “racism” - I have experienced its close relative Ableism - and nearly everything that applies to Ableism transfers right over, with few if any changes. If you know about one “ism,” you’re likely to have a fairly good idea about most of the others.

This statement reminds me of a recent impression I had:
Drumpfco wants to create a special class of crime, one which ignores the current legal system in many ways. Many activities, e.g. homelessness, would be criminalized under this concept.
1) there would be no trial involved. One would go straight to prison/camp/be executed, etc.
2) entire burden of proof is on the arrestee. One is guilty until one proves innocence - which is impossible, by design. The word of the Security Person is all that matters.
3) police can act “administratively,” i.e. do things because they feel inclined, or because they have superior orders and actual quotas to fill.
4) there are NO FIXED TERMS OF IMPRISONMENT. The usual term is “indefinite seizure,” I.e. one is in the system for as long as those in charge feel like.
5) there are no rights given to prisoners. None. Zero. Survival is dependent upon pleasing one’s master, or pure chance.
6) the whole state-run and state-owned enterprise (like in Russia under Putjin, or N. Germany) is run on a for-profit basis, resulting in de-facto slavery.
7) the ultimate goal is destruction through excessive work. (like in N. Germany.)
Note that the above is an impression. I could easily see a Drumpfian Extremist, e.g. Deth’Santis, doing something like this, however.
Note also that time has proved many of my impressions regarding Drumpfco to be fairly accurate.

@johnurbanek1027 they do not like Paying workers.
Under the now-Vanquished Reprehensible in Ca, there would have been NO minimum (if he had HIS way..,).
Hence, employing “trainees” in “internships” who more or less pay Mal-Wart for the privilege of laboring, with the “trainees” being discarded the day they graduate to “full-nigardly!-pay). Mal-Wart gets Paid to employ these people (government subsidies, etc.), while paying them essentially nothing - and the trainee must measure up to Mal-Wart’s standards of grooming and deportment…
That means the trainee needs to spend a lot of money - clothing, grooming, and especially medical, this last needed so as to keep Simon (Legree) happy and satisfied. Net result, assuming the trainee gets paid, is a net loss for the employee, I.e. it costs them a fair bit more to work than they receive!

@greenkrickett5664 the Dave Ramsey Schtick works best for a fairly small group of people - chiefly those with decent to excellent incomes for their area, whose health and other matters permit a “beans and rice”/extreme frugality lifestyle for a certain amount of time.
Such extreme frugality is not sustainable long term for most, e.g. malnutrition takes its toll, injuries, advancing age, catastrophes, etc. A few years for those yet young - fine. Decades?
That said, Ramsey’s core ideas are largely applicable (to some degree) to all save those at the extreme poles of poverty and wealth; the former, due to an extreme lack of income, often due to reasons that are (at least in part) beyond their control, e.g. age, disability, or discrimination - and the latter, due to having enough wealth that - in the short term - such economies are unneeded.

Graham’s true-self, speaking, “y’all are right in resisting this shot and masks. What you need to do is go further, and refuse all medical treatment entirely. Y’all are Over-Men, ain’tcha? Can I hear an Amen?”
Pause, while cheers echo.
“Good. You can heal yourselves by force of will - by chants, curses, and marks of power. Can I hear another Amen?”
The cheers become louder - and, more bestial. A guttural rumble permeates the response. Faintly, one can smell an odor of burning sulfur. Faint wisps of what look like vapor begin to coalesce into filmy forms - tall and grim-looking, wielding swords and axes.
“The Virus is a tool, used to purify the world. It destroys those who are not good enough - those not able to do war.” Another pause, then Graham’s true-self gathers, his eyes turning red. “Hail Brimstone, and Welcome, Sieve!”
Note that much - no, most - of the above is taken from fiction.
