So I’m not crazy about My difficulties with these things? As in I liked the size and heft of (the Springfield Armory) pistol I bought many years ago, but had issues with the “kick” and the “roar?”

It’s a real handful to hang onto, too! Even handloading with 185 grain hard-cast lead bullets and lighter (starting loads in the manual. I think it was the Lyman one, which was the first such manual I bought back in the late eighties) made the thing marginally manageable. Had I the funds then, I would have tried to get the thing converted to 9mm - or bought one in that caliber - as it wasn’t much fun to shoot when firing it at the range gives you a bad flinch!
