  1. @charlie brown - You think Nazi Germany was a Democratic Socialist state and you think Fascists were Socialists? You just discredited yourself. Fascism's own manifesto explicitly states it's an anti-Socialist right-wing ideology. I have yet to find a Conservative or right-wing Libertarian who has a fucking clue what Socialism even is. They seem to just think it means "Anything I don't like or think us bad".

A cursory reading of the history of the NSDAP answers why they had that name. Hitler changed the NSDAP Party ideology from Yellow Socialism to Fascism but kept the name intact for propaganda purposes (during the German Depression Socialism was very poplar among working-class Germans, it was necessary to gain support, but they moved openly Right later on to attract the support of the German business class and aristocrats and Junkers). Joseph Goebbels, who honestly believed in the Yellow Socialist ideology of the SA and Anton Drexler and Ernst Röhm, was initially crushed when he found out that Hitler wasn't a Socialist and had no interest in Socialism or creating a Socialist society. Among Hitler's first actions was to crush the Socialist SA and replace them with the Fascist SS and replace the left-wing Röhm with the right-wing Heinrich Himmler, then ban left-wing parties as Fuhrer while absorbing right-wing parties.
