The problem is that most Democrats who support Bernie aren't going to leave Party simply because he does. They're still Democrats, not Independents. As much rancor as there was last year, only 4 million Democrats left the Party, and most went Independent rather than Green. Most Democrats who left last year were already left-wing Independents at heart more than anything who just happened to be registered as a Democrat. For Bernie to win 3rd Party he'd need an additional 50 million Democrats to leave the Party by 2020. I don't realistically see that happening. Most Berniecrats see the Democratic Party as the only viable way for Progressives to get into Office and stop the Republican Party, no matter how pissed off with the DNC they are. Going 3rd Party doesn't free you from DNC rigging because the DNC personally writes the rules (along with the RNC) on what 3rd Parties have to abide by in order to qualify for elections. SPOILER: it's written to be nearly impossible for 3rd Parties to pass. 3rd Parties aren't even allowed to compete in some states. The Greens hold virtually no offices at any level of government (even town or county-level) anywhere in the country. They're better off focusing on just getting into judge, DA, sheriff, city council, county executive, State Legislature, Mayorships and Gubernatorial offices first instead of only showing up to tilt and the windmill of the White House every 4 years. The Greens won't win the White House until they start taking over the government and Congress down-ballot first. If a Green candidate did become President last year, who would they work with? They'd have no allies outside of the White House save maybe Bernie, Liz Warren and Tulsi Gabbard. Maybe Jeff Merkley and Keith Ellison. That's about it.
