  1. The Soviet Union was a 2nd World country with living standards comparable to some Western European countries in the 50s-70s. Red China had similar living standards to Japan at the time. You also left out Socialist societies like Revolutionary Catalonia, or like modern Scandinavian countries. Look at all the pure Capitalist countries like Somalia, Malawi, Central African Republic, Thailand, etc. Almost all of the world's most developed and prosperous countries are all Mixed economies to varying extents. The US was most prosperous from 1935-1985 when it was a Social Democracy. Now, as well become more hyper-capitalist, our economic situation is so bad we've been reduced to jokers like Donald Trump being able to win, campaigning on the fact we now have a shitty economy.
