Rave Dubin is the living archetype of the Gay man who never got over the fact that his traditionalist/conservative father doesn't/never accepted him and spends the rest of his adult life using homophobic older men as a psychological stand-in for his disapproving father in order to "redo" their relationship. He seeks in vain to get homophobic men's approval and love, even humiliating and dehumanizing himself to do so, to get that pat on the head and hug that daddy never gave his gay son. Those types of gay men are often attracted to Fascism. It makes sense when you think about it. Fascism has a lot in common with closet gay men trying to overcompensate for their "effeminate" queerness with hypermachismo and covert homoeroticism, seeking love from Dear Leader (substitute for daddy who was always strict with them because he suspected his son was gay and wanted to "toughen him up").

  3.  @christianvennemann9008  It's the eternal tragedy of men like Dubin. That acceptance they're trying to get from homophobes will NEVER come and they'll never live with that.
