Protip: A personal anecdote doesn't debunk a national trend with data. You are what's called a statistical outlier.

Most men don't work dangerous jobs and the gap usually appears in the starting salary before a single hour is worked.

@jesse spence - Most men DO NOT work dangerous jobs and not all dangerous jobs habe danger pay (like roofers, ditch diggers, etc.). So, danger pay doesnt explain the gap in most cases. Also, this is dealing with gaps within the same job.

Same thing. We're talking about salaries, not net worth.

No. A 4-10% average wage gap still remains even with same hours and same education for the sane job. On average.

Because if you pay someone less it's a sign you view them as less skilled. Why would you only hire workers you view as unskilled? It's the same reason employers still hire Americans despite the abundance of illegal immigrants willing to work for less. They're cheaper bit viewed as unskilled.

Um, that's more social than biological. Women take more time off because most men expect women to do most of the child-rearing and housework. That's a social expectation, not biological. Also, in many industries women are paid less than men *EVEN IN STARTING SALARIES*. What if some of those women never have kids? Should they get a refund of the pay they were preemptively shorted? .
