"Mugabe has done nothing but to live in luxury for himself for the past 30 years" True, but so does the president of every country on the planet. No president EVER suffers economically no matter how bad a country is doing. That goes for every Western and European country as well. You're right about IMF and FedReserve policies being used to keep "third world" countries under the thumb of industrialized countries. That said - Mugabe needs to go. Morgan Tsvangirai will be much better.

"all the natives were living as savages, the western world was well advanced and the native central Africans had not even made it to the Bronze age" What? The majority of African civilizations were in the Middle Ages in the 18th century. Only remote parts of southern Africa were still in the Iron Ages (none of them were still in the Bronze Age except the Zulu). And Europe was not that advanced either in the 18th century. It became advanced in the 19th century as colonialism prospered.

@WarmongerWW3 - The problem with your source is that it's mistaking genetic distance for "race". Genetic distance is not a taxonomic classification strata. (.) nature (.) com / ng / journal / v36 / n11s /full / ng1455 (.) html Races (i.e. species or subspecies) are cladistic in nature and monophylitic with a private and separate evolution from other subspecies. All human population clusters are clinal and polyphylitic in nature with constant movement and outside gene flow.

You are also working from the implication that right-wing or centrist sources are more reliable which is not a provable assumption. Unless you have proof that the information in the article is incorrect your argument is invalid. You're using the logical fallacy of "If Hitler believed 2+2=4 then 2+2 does not equal 4." A fact is a fact no matter if comes from a left-wing, a right-wing or a side-wing source.

"America is heading closer to a socialist welfare capitalist state" America was more of a "socialist welfare capitalist state" (what in the blue hell does that mean?) in the past. During America's economic height in the Cold War we had far more expansive social programs and better living standards. Our wealth has been redistributed UPWARDS to the top for 3 decades: alternet (dot) org/workplace/ 105653/ the _ massive_ wealth_redistribution_that_doesn % 27 t_ bother_john_ mccain/

I'm saying the ZANU professes to be Marxist but their policies are more kleptocracy than anything. Which is not uncommon in developing nations. Many parties profess to be all sorts of things but in practice are little more than thugs (right and left-wing parties alike). "Enough to say it was supported by Chinese, Russian, N Korean and Cuban communists" They cut Zimbabwe off a while ago when they figured out the ZANU are just thugs with guns. Cuba was more supportive of Angola.

idrobinhood - 1) Zimbabwe's problems are due to extreme inflation (due to runaway printing of money), lack of job training and lack of foreign investment and diversified exports. Zimbabwe actually had a stable economy in the 80s to early 90s. 2) South Africa is doing just fine. The economy in SA is better off now than it was during Apartheid. SA has a growing middle class, increasing foreign investment and more production. Poverty was almost 80% during Apartheid.

"Black Rhodesians held 70% to 80% regular army, police, guard force" So what? Ian Smith wanted to use the black people as human shields and bullet stoppers for the white minority. What else is new when it comes to racist whites wanting privilege but wanting some non-white group to shed blood and do the footwork? It was the same way with slavery. Blacks had to be the ones to do all the real work building America. "Zimbabwe's military eating elephant meat" Most don't. There isn't enough.

"What expansive social programs existed?" It's "ahistorical". Thanks for showing me your ignorance of economic history. I guess things like "Great Society", Eisenhower's continuation of New Deal programs, the "Fair Deal" and even Nixon's social programs don't ring a bell: en.wikipedia (dot) org/ wiki/ Richard_Nixon # First_term Hell, even Reagan did it. "new deal programs were largely GONE by 1952" Like I said I'm sure you don't know shit about the Fair Deal or Eisenhower.
1
"I am afraid it is not a good source. It is a site of one of the leftist organisations similar to those that brought Mugabe into power." 1) Please prove they are "leftist", let alone responsible for Mugabe coming into power or supportive of him. 2) You are using a logical fallacy attacking the author and not the information presented. Being a "left-wing" source does not discredit the information. Truth is truth no matter what th leaning of the source.
1
"The 1960s programs are 1/20th the level of Obama's programs, maybe less than that! Don't you read?" Of course I read, and you should stop reading Neocon talking points if you want to know anything. Let me show you why: contexts (dot) org/socimages/ files/ 2009/02/ federalspendingovertime (dot) jpg 1) The New Deal spike is way higher than the stimulus spike 2) The second highest peak in the percentage is under Reagan, right before it drops off steadily during Clinton. Anymore myths for me?

@WarmongerWW3 - If you insist that "race" does exist describe where clear racial taxonomic boundaries exist in the Human Genome. List the specific alleles and genotypes, list the phenotypes of these alleles and at what point they developed in human evolution and list the cladistic genetic biodiversity difference or cladistic genetic distance between each "race".
1
"Zimbabwe's stable economy was in the 80's and 90's was based from the White Rhodesian past control" No it wasn't. It was due to the DISMANTLING of some (not all) Smith policies. zmag (dot) org/ zmag/ viewArticle/ 13443 There is nothing inherent about whiteness that equals stability or inherent about blackness that equals instability. The US just had a white president and look where he led us. A huge recession. Good and bad policy has nothing to do with race.
1
Or hopefully the African Union can send in forces to remove Mugabe. I really think the African Union needs to be supported, funded and given more teeth by the UN and NATO like they did with the European Union. The AU has great potential to be a stabilizing force in Africa economically, militarily and politically. God knows Congo and Malawi need help militarily and politically.

You should read this article if you want a detailed economic analysis of IMF and World Bank policies in Zimbabwe. It's a much better source than my VOA News link: cepr (dot) net/ index (dot) php/ a- survey - of-the -impacts- of- imf - structural - adjustment -in- africa/

"Zimbabwe was the richest, safest most properous country in Africa at one time" For the small, white minority, yes. For black Rhodesians it was a hellhole. Most Rhodesians lived on reservations with non-arable land before the 1940s and lot of them were starving. "This is what you get when African style government takes place" South Africa is better today than it was under Apartheid. And look at the US, it had a white president who almost destroyed it (Bush). Stop spewing nonsense.
1
"At least with Bush's stimulus the people got the stimulus, $600 dollar checks" That's funny because two of my friends' families are getting $1000 checks from the Obama stimulus. They're also having their taxes reduced later this year. "It's hard to get upset at Bush spending a trillion when O is spending 4 times that" Correction: Bush spent around $11 Trillion (or at least burned through that much). The man left us a $9 Trillion deficit after walking into a $2 Trillion surplus.
1
@WarmongerWW3 - Among humans, race has no taxonomic significance; all people belong to the same hominid subspecies, Homo sapiens sapiens. AAPA 1996 Scientists consider biological essentialism obsolete,[13] and generally discourage racial explanations for collective differentiation in both physical and behavioral traits. Lee et al. 2008; Keita et al. 2004; Graves, Joseph L (2001). The Emperor's New Clothes: Biological Theories of Race at the Millenium. Rutgers University Press.

"Do you know what IMF's rate is?" The IMF's interest rate is FAR, FAR higher than that for Zimbabwe. voanews (dot) com/ english/ archive/ 2005 - 11 / 2005 - 11 - 23- voa70 (dot) cfm The IMF interest rate for Zimbabwe is 460%. This is AFTER the IMF told them to repay most of what was loaned to them earlier and stopped incoming aid and forced mass privatization which disturbed many markets in the country. Read man (or woman). Stop swallowing MSM crap and read for yourself.
1
@WarmongerWW3 - Genetic variation varies by region. There are no genetic races, unless you want to classify Haplogroups as races. Even that wouldn't be a "race" since people of different "races" can and do belong to the same Haplogroups all the time. Heritability of IQ measures in infancy are as low as 0.2, around 0.4 in middle childhood, and as high as 0.8 in adulthood. Among low-income people the heritability of IQ is low even in adulthood.
1
"though not called a communist party" Because it isn't. It's largely just a welfare capitalist state. At least now. A lot of industry is privately or semi-privately owned. "The party police like state and imprisons, torture, hunts them down, forces people to support under threat of destroying the houses" All this went on before Mugabe as well. Previous white presidents did the same thing to black insurrectionists. Even most of Mugabe's victims are black.
1
"Welfare donations create a society of constant dependency. Entire Africa is now welfare society created by white donors who suffer from self-guilt." Eh? The majority of Africa's GDP does not come from foreign donations. The majority of its economy comes from production of natural resources, agricultural products and some industrial products. Europe is what left Africa in a shitty shape in the first place after colonization. It was the colonies that built the Western economy.
1
Oh, and about your beloved Rhodesia it had an 80% poverty rate. More than 65% of the population lived well below the poverty line. About the only people who lived well there was the small 6% white population. Doesn't sound very economically enviable. It was also an Apartheid segregationist state. It legally kept blacks out of the government, had job protection for white employees protecting them from black competition and segregated schools. Not very democratic. Rhodesia is not coming back.
1
@WarmongerWW3 - Are you saying that you did or didn't say the opposite? You were correct that the average white American IQ has moved since the 1930s due to the Flynn Effect, however it seemed you were implying that black IQ has always been behind, which is unfounded. Whatever you meant with your second-to-last post you started off saying black people are easy to manipulate due to "low" IQ. By your logic white Americans in the 1930s would be unintelligent.
1
If anyone wants to read about the history of Zimbabwe this is a good source: globalresearch (dot) ca/ articles/ ELI505A (dot) html globalresearch (dot) ca/ index (dot) php ? context = va & aid =5730 I see it appears no one read the article on Zimbabwe's dam situation since I was asked about it. I guess because it doesn't confirm what Apartheid nostalgists' itching ears want to hear about the supposedly "glorious" past that never was.
1
@WarmongerWW3 - African-Americans are mostly derived from West Africans. You proved that there is something common to a particular regional stock of Africans. Not all Africans in general. The source you quoted spoke of "geographic races". The problem with this is that "geographic races" belong to population clusters in a "cross-racial" fashion. For instance, Russians are closer in genetic distances to Mongolians than they are to Britons.
1
"but also black Zimbabweans" You gotta be kidding. 80% poverty is "living better than now" when poverty is below 70%? newzimbabwe (dot) com/ pages/ mawere87 . 16776 (dot) html Just admit what this is all about: you want the country to go back to being a paradise for middle class whites of privilege and apartheid. I think these myths about the "advantage" of the old system is a ploy for that.
1
Some Marxists were/are democratically elected. Mugabe was one of them although he turned out to be more of an autocratic thug than a Marxist. His policies have little to do with actual Marxism anymore. Morgan Tsvangirai is democratically elected and he's a left-winger as well (though a much more genuine one unlike Mugabe). The MDC party is a social democratic/democratic socialist party.
1
"He's won the election but taken second fiddle" It's because Mugabe is a freaking thug who is keeping him out of power by threat of violence. Mugabe is obviously losing his mind and just devolving into a stereotypical "third world dictator". "Mugabe only understands violence" That's why I think if need be the South African ANC military or the military of Botswana or Mozambique should step in and muscle Mugabe and his thugs out.
1
@WarmongerWW3 - It's not a consensus but the majority now do not believe in race. The article says this observation is perhaps insufficient because even though there isn't "race" per se in human variation the taxonomic rank of Form/Morph might apply to humans. Which is the rank below sub-species (race).
1
Oh, I didn't know that. Interesting. Sort of like the stereotype of Canadians?
1
"Blaming the IMF?" I'm not 'blaming' the IMF, I'm describing things it has actually done. The IMF has been something of a loan shark since the late 70s. Zimbabwe was one of the victims of its loan sharking. serendipity (dot) li/hr/ imf _ and _ dollar _system (dot) htm I'm not "blaming" them any more than you are "blaming" Mugabe when you talk about his real culpability in Zimbabwe's current problems. But he isn't alone in being the cause.
1
"Mugabe's communist state had ruled with killing opposition" Please properly and coherently define communism and then detail how Mugabe's government meets those qualifications. "Rhodesia is destroyed" That's good for the majority black population. Most of them were even poorer back then. 80% poverty is HIDEOUS for any country. I know you probably don't care as long as the poor are black but it's a huge drain on any economy. So whether you care or not it's not good. Rhodesia isn't coming back.
1
"You elect a Kenyan, you get Kenya" That makes absolutely no sense. There is no genetic Kenyan economic nature. "Wait till you see what happens to the dollar when Obama's 787 billion hit the streets with no increase in wealth" Bush spent $1.4 Trillion between 9/29/2008 and 1/19/2009. I don't see you complaining about that. What do you have to show for it? A recession. Besides, Obama's stimuls is already working: ajc (dot) com/metro/content/ printedition/ 2009/ 04/14/ obama0414 (dot) html

"People are to be judged by their deeds. Discrediting good deeds by bad motivation is not part of a good judgement." Well Jeez man (or woman) if you want to make that argument we say Mao was a good leader because he did do some good things even though his motivation was bad. Most dictators have done at least one good thing. "but in practice in 1992 Zimbabwe spent 6 dollars per child per year for education" That was during some IMF reforms. In the 80s it was spending more.
1
"Mugabe's deeds are of a bad leader" A lot of his policies have had good results, many have not. The same with Smith. A lot of his policies had good results and many did not. I can cite all sorts of successes Mugabe had in the 80s and 90s. That doesn't make him a good leader. The same with Smith.
1
"ZANU PF was openly communist party until 1992" So was the Red Khmer, or at least claimed to be, yet most Marxist parties throughout the world did not support it as its policies were incredibly stupid and didn't even resemble the policies of most Comintern countries. The same with Zimbabwe. You're working under the false assumption that all alleged left-wingers work together. They don't - the US doesn't work with all capitalist powers. If we did we'd have better relations with China.
1
"Has the main Dam been upgraded with new generators since the past 30 years...?" Read for yourself: dams (dot) org/ kbase/ studies/ zz/ zz_exec (dot) htm "How are the forests of Rhodesia" Deforestation is quite a commonplace thing in most countries in the world. Including the US and other Western nations. Singling out Zimbabwe for deforestation is like singling them out for the existence of sexism. Yes, most of the forests are still there.
1
Besides, I can't totally blame Mugabe. There was a period of recession under Ian Smith as well as Mugabe. There was also a booming economy at some point under both. The economy of Zimbabwe was quite good in the 80s up until the early 90s when a recession set in. Zimbabwe got in trouble when they started borrowing from IMF and World Bank loan sharks and then started printing shitloads of money like Weimar Germany to pay it off. That said it's time for Tsvangirai. Mugabe needs to go.
1
@WarmongerWW3 - Read them. They quoted none of the information I asked for. How's about you read the sources I quoted and, since you seem to disagree, quote those alleles and prove the scientists wrong. Prove that race does indeed exist by naming those racial alleles.
1
"Rhodesia put big efforts into black education" Bull. Smith purposely kept the black majority uneducated. books.google (dot) com / books ? id = LMI9AAAAIAAJ & pg = PA184&lpg=PA184 & dq = Rhodesia,+educational+discrimination & source=bl & ots=yk1cxUyEBW & sig=V2almfHODUJJ4JuVv4UMwN __iRw & hl=en & ei= iwn1Sff4Bo2jtgfy6Y20Dw & sa = X & oi = book _ result & ct = result & resnum = 1 Just face reality and stop trying to defend your white "paradise" of Rhodesia (it wasn't really).
1
"Did U just say: Eh? What are you, Nigerian?" Lol, no, I'm American. "Mugabe is an idiot. And so is ayone who want to bestow any form of credibility on Africa's worst leader." I don't think anyone, at least not me, is trying to praise Mugabe. What I am saying is that the IMF and World Bank are partially responsible for the economic woes in that country. And by your logic no one should invest in America either since it has a shitty economy right now.
1
It has nothing to do with white farmers or black farmers. There is nothing inherent about being white that ensures success or inherent about being black that ensures failures. There are several growing African economies and failing European economies that show that. Mugabe's failure was that the black majority was UNEDUCATED due to policies that had taken place under Smith and before and he did not invest in education and job training. He just gave people land and left them on their own.
1
"why There was free primary education for blacks?" Because he was obliged to hold his promise of starting to treat blacks more like equals as he promised the British. However, the schools were not equal. Similar to black and white schools in America during Jim Crow. "There was an option for secondary education for blacks?" It was an option but most blacks could not afford it because most blacks were paid less. "equal admission of blacks and whited into the university" There was?
1
Huh?

"America is heading closer to a socialist welfare capitalist state. As well. By making laws to take rights away, and make people obedient to the state." What rights have been taken away here? No, that was Bush and the corporatist state that took away our rights to protests and our Constitutional rights. BTW - America's greatest time of prosperity was during the "welfare years" of the mid 40s to the early 80s. Our living standards have declined since then thanks to corporatism.
