Agreed, but currently nothing is being cut. Especially not anything that will be a great money-saver. The shutdown is estimated to actually cost several billions of dollars, ironically.

NASA - Yes, but it's done far more than that. Much of the technology in your house and hospitals started off as NASA-tech. US Military - Agreed, but try telling that to Republicans. Medicare - Healthcare costs are going up because private Big Insurance keeps charging more, the tens of millions of uninsured drive costs up by the rest of us having to pay their bills, and Big Pharma keeps raising prices and blocking citizens from buying meds more cheaply abroad.

NASA, the US military, Medicare, FDA, etc.

The vast majority of price increases from private insurers is to pay insurance company CEOs and shareholders bigger salaries. 20-30% of the price of private insurance is overhead (admin pay). Medicare has 2-5% overhead. Obamacare is a mandate to buy private insurance. It can't phase out Medicare, which is govt insurance. FDA - While true (they've also allowed dangerous drugs to be sold, due to partial deregulation) a world without them would be a return to Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle".
