  1. It's because large mutual fund type investors are buying up certain price ranges. They are called REITs real estate investment trusts. They buy up 100,000 thousands of homes across certain cities. Atlanta, Miami etc. That is the problem not rent control. These big REITS want rent control to further squeeze out the small mom and pop investor.
