I consider myself a progessive/libertarian independent. I have met blacks who choose to be republican because they are socially conservative (pro-life, traditional marriage, etc,) Unfortunately, "tribalism" has poisoned a once balanced and civil discourse within politics and people are turning a blind eye on that which is wrong within the two dominant political parties. Perhaps, they feel that no other party shares their core values or that they will face reprisals for speaking out. Maybe, some are motivated by ambition for personal gain. Nonetheless, not all blacks choose a political party for the same reason.

@glenwarner162 Your argument would then instruct people to distrust Italians who brought fascism (by way of Mussolini) to the forefront in the west, which in turn ultimately led to mass genocide and the Holocaust in Germany (by way of Hitler). Do you expect us in modern day society to hate the Italians and Germans? Do you expect Christians in modern day society to hate Italians (Romans) for allowing the persecution and death of Christ? Furthermore, if you study history, then you are well aware that political parties have evolved and changed since the time of Abraham Lincoln. Thus ultimately, the Klan was started by Christian white Americans and the demographic and idealogy of this domestic terrorist organization has remained constant. Even so, given your weak argument, should blacks distrust all Christian white Americans in today's modern society? No.
