Summers would come around and we would visit each other cities and of course do that joyride through the hood areas. I think Chicago and Philly were the scariest. Urban core areas are not as dangerous and scary as they use to be. I still remember those scary rides through Cabrini Green way back in 1992.

When LA was going through all that gang violence during the 80's and 90's Chicago was ranked either worse than LA or slightly below LA..Hollywood and rap music gave LA more of the spotlight in pop culture so it put LA more on the map than other cities. When you also look up crime rates of the 80's and 90's LA and Chicago were neck and neck most of the time.
