Municipalities need to start damming the flow, with their waste and refuse collection. the populace isn't going to do it. as for the Pacific Gyre. the only thing that will clean that up is, solar/wind/wave powered autonomous robotic stations that collect, sort and recycle the non-living matter they encounter. that way all plastic will be removed without harming wild life. This Is Too Important To Ignore. your pollution doesn't ''go away''.
