My Dad would do a yearly 4 Corners Loop Trip, drive to the 4 corners and then loop through one of the states, I remember being in Flagstaff for Pow Wow over July 4th. I remember being disappointed because we couldn't do fireworks. That was the Painted Desert/Grand Canyon Loop. We did the Monument Valley and Utah loop, Hovenweep and Moab, the Colorado Loop Durango, Montrose, Alamosa, the Toltec Railroad, ended up in Vallecito, and the New Mexico Loop, since we lived in Albuquerque that was the Biggest Trip of All, we stared out in 4 corners, Farmington, Gallup, Magdellena, the VLA begining to be built, City of Rocks, Carlsbad Caverns, White Sands Alamagordo Trinity Site, a few days on the Cousins' Farm and back to the City. All in a Rambler Stationwagon Tent Camping the whole way. My Roadtrips are Point A to Point B as quick as possible with a confirmed hotel reservation waiting for me. I can do Denver to Santa Fe in 5 hours going down. I don't mess around.
