@tomevans1353 yes, it was worth it. For Russia, it is necessary that Ukraine be neutral, without NATO military bases and missiles aimed at our cities and strategic objects. This is something that America and the West cannot understand. You can talk as much as you like about the fact that Ukraine is a free country and decides for itself which alliance to join and blah blah blah. But the reality is that while Ukraine was neutral, Russia did not touch it, but only helped with loans and discounts on gas, paid rent for Crimea and military bases in Sevastopol (which was Russian for 300 years and Russian soldiers fought for it for 300 years) Problems began when Ukraine decided not to renew the contract with Russia, but to let the NATO fleet into the Crimea. Look at the situation from our side, from Russia's side.

@tomevans1353 Well said, nothing can justify a military invasion of a sovereign country. How many sovereign countries has the US invaded in the last hundred years? Why does the United States arrange coup d'état in other countries? Why did the United States set up military bases around Russia, but raised a hysterical screech to the whole world when the USSR wanted to put missiles in Cuba? Why does Russia always have to be in a vulnerable position, surrounded by US military bases and US controlled countries in proxy wars?
