The story contained this sentence: “His father brought the family to Chicago to "escape" Vietnam in the early 1990s.” Is that how the family expressed it, or the editors? How odd is it the man came to the country that devastated his place of birth. Did he do anything in the USA to help mitigate the ordinances and Agent Orange dropped by the U.S that maims and kills Vietnamese to this day? Stranger yet, this man brought his family to the the U.S for refuge to seek a better life winds up, together with his father, victims of a virus that his former home country has thus far managed to contain. The country of nearly hundred million that the USA tried to destroy managed to save itself with far less than a hundred COVID fatalities. Sadly for some there is no safety from the "benevolent" empire even when "escaping" into it's embrace.

I think this can easily turn into a Malayan Emergency, but in this case it will be Fascist who are reduced in power, the local majority who suffered under them will be emboldened to take things into their own hands.
