  3. I think what you are missing is that loads of people have this urge to be social butterflies and to like "the thing" and be part of "the group" and so on. As for technology, you are not missing anything. I only use functions to sling around data structures and have never found a program that cannot be coded this way yet.

  8.  @asdfloschikosdelbarrio2724  It cannot be the fastness of iterations that drives this industry, because if it were that, they'd all be using Tcl/Tk, which works on the web just exactly as it does on the webbrowser, and no one would need to code any website differently from any desktop app. So it cannot be that. If it were that, the industry would be using Tcl/Tk.
