@junudallah6406 the difference between occupied and conquered is in the first situation the occupiers are relying on fear for power, hoping it will leverage them into real power; in the second situation, they have acquired real power.

@eliasadam2345 Yees, the Portuguese-British alliance is the longest standing worldwide - the Windsor Treaty. And according to Olalde et al. (2019), the Portuguese are the most genetically British people in Iberia, having 60% England_Middle-Bronze-Age autosomal genetic material. So maybe this alliance is not only for strategical and political reasons but also due to a common recognition of shared ancestry on each other.

@eliasadam2345 And not only that, the alliance is genuine - the Portuguese do love the English and vice-versa.
