  1. in proper english this is called 'vicarious shame'. in dutch we say 'plaatsvervangende schaamte' which is 'stellvertretende Schande' literally translated to german.

  2. In Dutch we use 'zitvlees' to refer to a persons ass. But not in any metaphorical context. If youve been sitting on a hard wooden chair for too long you stand up and say 'ach kanker mijn zitvlees doet zeer'

  3. In Dutch we would say 'Fijne avond' or 'fijn weekend' aka 'have a nice evening/weekend'. I guess the equivalent of 'feierabend' would be to say 'vier je avond/weekend' which would translate in English to 'celebrate/enjoy your evening/weekend/leisure time/time off' depending on context and whether its american or british english.

  5.  @feli-the-sunfairy  oh no cringe is definitely not a positive emotion, i think cringe is best described as the feeling of hearing nails on a chalkboard. it just makes you bare your teeth and pull your shoulders up. schadenfreude is much more positive.

  8. 'doch' can also be used in a 'yes it is', 'no it isnt' back and forth. In Dutch if someone insists on a ludicrous proposition we say 'toch' or 'toch wel'. For example you tell someone the earth is round, and they say no, its flat, you can simply reply 'toch' and then you start a fight about it. Which would indeed be equivalent to the use of the word 'though' in English.
