  2. These companies themselves dont even know who all their subcontractors and mailbox subsidiaries are. Thats the entire point of those constructions. That way they can, for example, sell clothes that were made by child slaves in sweatshops in Bangladesh and then have plausible deniability when they are accused of violating human rights.
