@jammygamer8961 thats just a direct consequence of video games and fantasy going mainstream. whenever theres a lot of money involved and the audience mostly consists of normies with an average iq of under 100 points, this happens.

you forgot to mention the hollywood writers strike a couple years back. the writers were unhappy with their meager pay so they striked and the studios refused to raise their pay so most of them quit. thats at least half the reason why everything hollywood makes these days sucks ass.

yeah this is an issue in the wheel of time show as well. you have a small mountain village disconnected from the rest of the world for 3000 years that is racially diverse? they would all have light brown skin, black hair, and brown eyes, after 3000 years of interbreeding.

i never read the witcher books and didnt like the video games, watched the first season of the netflix show and the forced diversity was one of the things that killed my suspension of disbelief, besides the shallow characters and nonexistent worldbuilding. they didnt even show a map for a few frames in the whole season so i never had any idea where anything was or what was going on.

if you want to go at the root of the problem, dont go after schools, go after the crony capitalist system that incentivizes companies to create monopolies to sell people garbage instead of having a healthy competitive marketplace of ideas. bernie wouldve won.

@AndSendMe no it start with a good antitrust watchdog that is capable of breaking up monopolies and oligopolies. if disney didnt own 80% of the entertainment industry, this problem wouldnt exist. also, copyright legislation is a big problem. many IPs that are currently exploited by a single corporation would have already been in the public domain years ago if disney didnt pay off politicians to extend the copyright duration by a decade every decade. think of how many cool star wars or lotr projects would be possible if those IPs were public domain.

@AndSendMe the government isnt supposed to control what ideas are heard, theyre supposed to ensure a level playing field so people can have their ideas heard and judged on their merit. in a free market whatever corporation can buy out or starve out their competition wins and then you have a situation where only that corporations ideas are heard. anarcho capitalism always results in feudalism.

@AndSendMe government regulation is not the only source of monopolies. go look up the history of the bell telephone company. monopolies form in every capitalist system if the government doesnt intervene, because capitalism concentrates wealth if return on investment is higher than the growth rate of the economy. you should go read Piketty's capital in the 21st century.

you could have a diverse show with vikings, the varangian guard that protected the byzantine emperor was made up mostly of norsemen and there was plenty of diversity in the eastern roman empire.

I mean, this isnt really surprising considering what netflix did with the witcher. Medieval polish peasants werent exactly tolerant of other cultures, to put it lightly, and yet that show has diverse characters all over the place. Imo a tv show about how a diverse cast of characters tries to survive in medieval poland would be more interesting than the show they actually made, but what do i know.
