well they couldnt show a native american society having gender equality and depicting them having healthy interactions between men and women, that would imply certain implications that are not politically convenient. it would undermine their reactionary movement to show women not being oppressed in historical contexts. In realty, native american society was quite egalitarian and women did hunt. Especially when food was scarce or the men were at war, but even in regular times, they would at least hunt rabbits and other small stuff to feed the tribe. They were nomadic people, they couldt afford to just let the women sit around their tipis making bead necklaces, they would all starve lol.
