there are still some good tv shows. in the past year, ive watched the expanse, resident alien, reacher, and i even managed to enjoy peacemaker by skipping through all the scenes with the token diverse lesbian couple.

@logicplague they were so not preachy that i dont remember it at all. i really dont care about characters sexual orientation in a science fiction story, i care about the science fiction. didnt care for the hetero love subplots either, the relationship between naomi and holden felt forced and they had 0 chemistry. holden and that reporter lady had way more going on. thankfully they tried to keep the soap opera stuff to a minimum

there are a lot of other good sci fi shows, they just dont get much attention. watch killjoys or resident alien. i could look at a hundred episodes of alan tudyk pretending to be an alien pretending to be a human and never get bored.

@mco51193 it pays off to check whatever the syfy channel has produced every year. a lot of their shows are god awful but there are usually a few gems in there. if you dont mind watching some older shows then i can also recommend farscape and fringe if you havent seen those already. and firefly remains a classic, i could watch that show every year and never get bored of it.

@thedragon8355 the reason markets collapse in the first place is because the banks take too many risks, because their mathematical models indicate they have a higher chance of gaining more on the short term by risking long term stability and they will get bailed out by the government if they are about to go bankrupt anyway because they own all the politicians. on top of that, if the bubble collapses, stocks go down, a bunch of people lose their jobs, life savings and their homes, which the banks can they buy up cheap in foreclosure and sell at a profit when the market recovers, so they make money on these crashes. its all by design. anyway, there is plenty of future to look forward to. all we have to do is end capitalism worldwide and start doing useful things with our time instead of using our best and brightest minds to create new financial tools to extract profit from poor people.

ive watched std and i didnt hate it as much as everyone else seems to. okay the main character is a black woman called michael and shes a mary sue, but in the first 2 seasons there were some male central characters that had agency. then they got rid of all those guys and now its just a ship full of women with 2 gay dudes on it. there was some potential for an interesting story too, if they didnt go with the dumbass alternate universe thing in season 1 and had antagonists that had motivations other than growing up in the warhammer 40k empire.
