Because you select men based on the qualities that are easy to fake with photoshop and lying and pretending, superficial things like looks and material possessions. If you cared about things like character and principles and good family values, then faking it would be a lot harder and a lot less useful for dudes. As it stands, as a guy you can just photoshop yourself on exotic vacations, or rent a sports car and an airbnb with a private pool for a day and take some pictures, and it will work because those are the things you look for in a dude. You are describing exactly why it does work.

After working to have a decent job, a car and fitness most guys will conclude they don't want to date anymore because what's available is trash and they don't want to bring trash into their life after putting in a lot of work to get a good life or get taken advantage of by gold-diggers. The only guys that are still trying to date are ones that dont have much to lose or ones so rich that they don't need to care about protecting themselves from allegations or divorce because they can settle lawsuits.

You can spend your time with friends, on hobbies, do something creative, go volunteer at a soup kitchen, whatever you like to do instead of chasing poon. The mental and physical health benefits of avoiding them are also obvious. Not getting herpes or antibiotic resistant STDs. Not getting falsely accused of things. No drama. No trash talking about you on social media or calling your work to talk trash about you or stalking you after something happened that they don't like. Not getting stabbed in your sleep. Dating mentally unstable people is quite dangerous.
