@holywar666 man this applies to things that were mainstream even a few decades ago. look at the average desk lamp in the 50s. proper engineered lamps with joints that you can position exactly how you want them. now we sit in office cubicles or open floor plans with flickering fluorescent tube lights or very harsh LEDs that give people headaches and create an awful sterile atmosphere. quality definitely doesnt always increase over time. this is one of the follies of these times. newer is always better.

because its much more expensive to machine than a regular prop. in the immortal words of some AMD CEO a long time ago: We could make a faster CPU than Intel. You wouldnt be able to afford it.

@WreckedRectum yes but it took them a couple decades, this quote is from the early 00s i believe. idk, im getting old. anyway things like this happen every day, its how technological progress usually goes. for example when trying to improve the learning rate of my latest AI project, this was in 2020, i came across an algorithm that was invented in 1983 and hadnt been implemented by google until 2019. until then it had just been sitting on a shelf somewhere. the algorithm is strictly better than the version i was using before with no downsides. it still isnt widely known about. using it is as simple as changing a single letter of code. i havent seen anyone use it since i found it. its called nesterov momentum if youre interested.
