  1. No other carmaker in the world would put money into a low volume nameplate operation like this. Geely is buying goodwil, and sticking the foot into Europe. American, Japanese , and European carmakers take notice. The Chinese want your markets.

  2. Low production runs on a highly specialized vehicle. We are not talking luxury cars here. No Bentley or RR pricing. It needs to be reasonably priced for the trade. Your British car maker might’ve as well bailed out. Geely saw the opportunity to make its name in Europe. There are no profits on volume here. But the visibility is nowhere better. This is free publicity on a breaking even operation. They bought a coach builder and are using their know How in the EV Power Train. Geely is the underdog outside China. It needs to beat BYD , VW Group. Geely also owns Volvo. Again , not a profit play. This is “ Chinese Trojan Horse “ assault.

  4. They had one exact British Taxicab Carriage , all clad in yellow , licensed as a Boston Taxicab by the early nineties. Run under the Checker Cab Company’s colors , then wholy owned by Frank Sawyer and daughter. The rig had a medallion plate number One (1). Driven by an old chap exclusively. Everyone one else got non assigned Chevy Caprices back then. Frank Sawyer, by the way , was not originally a Sawyer. He was a Russian Jew Communist Refujnik who amassed quite a fortune. He single-handedly owned Checker Cab ( 177 medallions , from number 1 through 177 ) , Town Taxi ( 100 medallions ) , and Brookline Red Cab ( can’t remember the amount ). He was also on the board of Avis Rent a Car, and owned quite a large collection of parking garages in the city.
