Plenty cheap land, favorable climate , no environmental regulations , and cheap labor costs. This is a big deal because America buys most of its olive oil from Italy. The Greeks, Spaniards , and Portuguese take their olive oil seriously. The Greeks are fanatical about it. There is a reason longevity in Greece is above world average .
