  1. Forget Japan as a country. This from someone who lives by a larger historical Japanese Enclave, the Greater São Paulo, Brazil. The Japanese tend to be gregarious to close knit ties and are private and reserved. On the whole grand scheme of things, their approach to the external world , they tend to be inclusive and pragmatic. Thry go along to get along ,but in private quarters they would rather cultivate their customs and habits. Up to three generations , that is how it goes. For as long as there are no mixed marriages. They can be reserved to outsiders , full of quirks , but they open thrift doors in the same token. Call them reserved pragmatics .
