  1. Only, in the case of Brazil , most of the soybean crops are grown in the center / southeast regions , specifically Cerrado ( State of Goiás, Mato Grosso , Mato Grosso do Sul ) , Paraná . Very little is coming from the Amazon region , at best from the State of Rondônia . Capillarity in road infrastructure , rail lines , silage, all at minimum, are obstacles to industrial scale in the region. True , Brazil relies heavily on Fertilizers ,crops like sugar cane, soybeans , corn , eat up over 70% if fertilizer consumption in Brazil. And Fertilizer Provessors do import 23% of fertilizer raw materials from Russia. On the flip side , water pockets availability overmatches what is available in Continental US, a fact you never bring up.

  2. Your assumptions are moot. #1 is correct. #2. It is a pie in the sky concept . You can’t grow , in a industrial scale , crops that not just feed an overwhelming portion of the population, they also are indispensable for livestock feed and fuel using Mom and Pa network of backyards.
