All of the sudden , someone and everyone is finding lithium in their backyard. Sounds like a tail of Jethro finding oil on his patch and moving the family to Beverly Hills. Stop dancing you fools.

The Jury is out. They are moving their EVs all over the world. As for Chinese car buyers , their sales were propped up thanks to heavy incentives on pricing and waiver on licensing vehicles , which in China cost an arm and a leg. Despite all the hype in Brazil, I have not spotted any Chinese EV , except for one fleet van here and there. Most daring taxicab drivers will risk overpaying for a Hybrid Corolla or Prius. And they have a chunky price rebate out of the door. No one is betting on Chinese EVs. The most sold Chinese nameplates are Chery Tiggos , an ICE model lineup. Maybe they are doing well in Europe. As for what my eye can see, plenty of hype. Which is how Chinese go about their numbers.

At that altitude ? No. Thin air grasshopper.

Between deposits and going into production there is a long layoff. Norway ain’t Russia. Mining has to be approved by a Scandinavian way of Democracy that can go either way . In Russia everything is opaque and anything goes. If there are a few to profit , environment be dammed , it is all fair game.

Because they are at scale on battery production. They have a fully verticalized system from mining through final production of batteries as I understand.

Good news if you are a Dutchman. For everyone else , yay. No that game changer. Some people would rather have the comfort and safety of a car.

You meant Elvis ? That guy is an act. He has proven diddle squat. Just another clown in a sucession of clowns. And lithium deposits in Argentina is nothing new. Their government or private business / bankers do not have bankroll to invest in lithium mine. Someone from outside with deep pockets and a whole lot of patience will have to do it. And deal with Argentinians , who as a group are in a whole new level on how to screw things up.

That is a very interesting conclusion grasshopper. Good point.

Toyota is going big on it. And there are a few scattered investments on Hydrogen production plants the world over. I know about one of such projects in Brazil. Problem with Liquid Hydrogen is transport and storage. Which is beyond Toyota’s reach, as this is a costly undertaking anywhere . And me mindful Japan as a country might have issues in scaling up their power grid. So Hydrogen might work in Japan. Not necessarily elsewhere. Maybe in Third World countries.

Hybrid cars are meant to be great on saving fuel. Way back before 2013 , a shift refuel on a taxicab ( about 120 miles , give it or take it ) would take $45 on a Ford Crown Vic and about $ 12 on the same mileage under a Hybrid Toyota Camry. The way hybrid engines works , if you coast at low speeds , you are running on batteries. A take off, hill climb , or a highway cruise goes on gasoline. The true savings are realized on city traffic stop and go, where most fuel is burnt less efficiently.

Sometimes having the King’s hear might not be a good think , after all . Once your reputation is set , keynote speaking engagements are far more lucrative while they last. And being a representative democracy , at least for appearance sakes, when there is a change of guard , heads roll. Once a favorite then an outcast. He is better off being invited than being ensconced in some think thank. And he is making some coin thanks to Alphabet largesse. You can indulge into this money making through media if you are a government bureaucrat. No hiking , no jet setting. Dude is living the life.

If you have the money and usage to justify , hybrid. If not , gas fueled.

Interesting that Peter lines up data on production outcomes. His forecasts might not be from the hip , after all. I assume he does his homework in advance prior to editing and has access to sound reliable sources.
