There are a very few places in the world geothermal works. Usually in places once known for volcanic activity. It takes a lot of heat generation to move turbines. In the Azores Archipelago Portugal , specifically Saint Michael Island , their power is geothermal. Any place known for hot springs might be a candidate. Outside of such places , it is impossible to make it feasible. So it is a niche power source.

Geothermal has limited geographical scope. Former mine wells. They can’t generate enough heat to sustain turbines. Why bother digging for more holes yo get to same insuficient results ? Places where once there might be volcanic activity. That works. Take the Portuguese Archipelago of Azores, specifically Saint Michael Island. They are powered by Geothermal. Hot springs. Which are , by default , places once known for volcanoes. Outside those areas, pie-in-the-sky.
