Yes, the declension is what provides that flexibility. No matter what order you put the words in, you (almost) never confuse the Object and the Subject. So you can use different word orders as an additional tool, e.g. to indicate old and new info, or for emphasis.

@MilaneseMoon Yes, there rudiments of the same system in English (e.g. he-his-him etc.). I just wanted to clarify the terminology. When it pertains to nouns it's called declension which is inflection for grammatical cases and some other categories but not tense. Conjugation pertains to verbs with the tense deflection as the main point. There are some unusual cases like adjectives in Japanese that may have present and past tense forms but I wonder if a language with nouns that change forms for tenses exists somewhere.

@MilaneseMoon no, both declension and conjugation may involve dozens of grammatical categories depending on a language. However some of those in conjugation are verb-specific like tense but not limited to. There can be mood, voice, transitivity, causativity etc. etc. Well, without being picky about the terminology we may just point out the remarkably rich inflection in the Slavic languages which covers both conjugation and declension.

@MilaneseMoon Japanese conjugates some adjectives, but how nouns can be conjugated?
