She sounds like a bad person in general and a person that is terrible at her job. Who calls an 8 year old dumb, sorry but that is a very dumb thing that teacher said.

@AzureToroto sounds awful, sounds like the special eds in your school was treating everyone like a defective person instead someone that needed a unique education (aka special education) to allow them to achieve their maximum potential. I am sad that was what you went through. That is not what special ed should be. In addition, with Asperger's there is absolutely no need and even a lot of harm both to the kid with Asperger's and to the rest of the kids, to put a child in a completely different setting. In these case the "special ed" should not be on the expense of normal school activities but some extra classes and probably therapy and guidance to help navigate the social interactions and teach methods to allow the child to express his needs to the class mate and teachers and in general to the world and to himself, along with some help to allow him to track his thought process and understand the world. One handy tool could have been to teach the child with Asperger's how to express his needs and difference to the class, and allow him to talk to the class with the support of his teachers so he can teach them about him and how he interacts or any difficulties he might have and how he would like to ask them them to help This tool has been proven help. At the same time, any child that has an ability and wish to learn more and take on more challenges should always have the option to do so and it should be made clear to them.

This was clearly written by someone with Asperger's... I wish all Asperger's people were incredibly brilliant, I met one that was and many that were very average, they are just as likely to be a genius as every one else. Also, the conclusion of not helping people with Asperger's adapt to the world but make everyone in the world adapt to them... Very clearly something that someone with Asperger's wrote, wanting to force everyone else to change. Being accepted is one thing, but demanding that the whole world recognise you as a genius despite never have done anything to prove you are, then making everyone change how people communicate because you communicate differently... That is not going to happen... We don't all learn sign language because some people can't hear, and the entire world, despite absolutely accepting people on the spectrum, is not going to change their way of communication just because some people like to communicate differently (Just to be clear, asking people with Asperger's to adapt to the world means only if they want to or feel they need to and in that case just letting people know what is going on and what they need to be understood and understand better, it is impossible for someone to just diagnose a stranger and know they are different and need adjustments in the communication if the stranger doesn't do a little bit of effort and explains and helps people around him, help him if they choose to.)
