@GrandmaWisdomYT Professional care, huh? I had a friend whose mother was in a nursing home. She visited her mom every chance she had, at least once a week. Her mom was not bathed, her hair was dirty, she was not moved from her bed, and sometimes she laid in her own waste; waiting for a member of the "professional staff" to come and attend to her needs. I"'ve also heard of similar situations from others as well.

@riverduck3 I know I wouldn't last a day there. Even though I have compassion for them. My husband's aunt worked at a facility. She was fired bc she spent too much time with her individual charges; looking after their needs.

@riverduck3 Used to be ppl looked after their parents in their home. That's the way it should be yet.

@riverduck3 No, but maybe mom and/or dad could be moved to their location. I think it's selfish for the children NOT taking care of their parent/s. Parents raised the children to, at least 18 then it is the children's turn to care for their parents. Now, if the parent developes dementia or Alzheimers and reaches a point where they get combative and dangerous to the family , then maybe that's the time to place them in a special care facility. I believe elders that are able to stay in their own home or share a home with a child until the end are healthier and happier until that point.

@gailwheeler470 You were more devoted to your parents then most.

@norisks Good for you.

@mipileto871 There is a state licensing board that these facilities are required to register with. They can file a complaint and the board is to follow up. Get their mother out of that facility first.

@leonceboudreauxwolf Some day they will face GOD. Children are to respect their parents; take care of them when they are older.

@rafaelcesar9705 But I don't live there.
1
@PaulaWilson-zf4ss WOW, that is definitely the exception rather than the rule. I wish all nursing homes were like that.

@AvisYvonneGrant Yes, and I bet you pay handsomely for the grand manner in which you live, too. Most can not afford that kind of accommodations.
