The Real News Network has some interesting reporting about this, from 9 years ago, and there have been recent developments that make it clear that the UK, Germany, and the US are in cahoots with Israel in seeking to steal Palestinian gas. There is even talk that the Israelis and a Texan outfit have been siphoning Gazan gas over to their operation underwater. This is all part of the attempt to replace carbon emitting fossil fuels with methane emitting fuels.
