The Taliban leader Mullah Muhammad Omar, in 2001, ordered the 6th century Buddhas of Bamiyan in Afghanistan (near Kabul) to be blown up, "so that no-one can worship or respect them in the future." The two enormous Buddha statues were UNESCO World Heritage sites. So it was a perfect example of Muslims doing to sacred Buddhist sites what these Jews are doing to sacred Muslim sites. Both are appalling examples of attempts at cultural genocide. I don't get things like this wrong.

He did this "so that no-one can worship or respect them in the future." This was an example of Muslim leaders destroying sacred Buddhist sites, just as these Jews are destroying sacred Muslim sites. Both acts are reprehensible examples of cultural genocide.
