  1. Japanese society has to stop blaming the individual for the failures of society itself. If society took responsibility for causing Hikikomori it would figure out what it is doing wrong to cause this problem, and would find ways to help heal this problem. To do that society has to accept that not all people see sense in how society is structured, and how it operates. It would entail consulting hikikomori for their input on what they would LIKE to contribute to society, and then create a way to value that contribution.

  2.  @douglasbarnes4035  So sad. Such people exist everywhere, but other countries just don't bother to even identify the problem, they just make jokes about people living in their parent's basement, and so on.
