The question is: do suicidal feelings go away, long term, after trans surgery, stay the same, or increase? I know there is a honeymoon period after surgery, but what about when they realise that changing their exterior hasn't changed their inner self? We need long-term studies. Are they being done? it also troubles me that the stories of detransitioners are being suppressed; if we really care for these people, we should care about them all, long term.

@ryn704 My niece is trans, so I think I know quite well what trans is. And actually, there are quite a lot of people who get health complications, or are even more unhappy after transitioning than before. And that proportion rises substantially after about 8 years, a fact that some trans activists, and some people from the public who know very little about it, become very emotional about, verbally abusing detransitioners who want to tell about their experiences. They receive no support from the medical professionals or politicians who purport to care for trans health, or rights, either. I just think their health and rights matter too. Let's hear the full story, not just the happy story we like to hear.
