I'm on the Left with most things, but not on this. Not at all. Abortion at week 20 is grossly inhumane.

@moretac It's perfectly obvious from the evidence provided by John Kennedy here. At 5 weeks the connections between peripheral nerves and the brain, necessary to experience pain, do not exist. My entire argument is a humanitarian one, resting on whether the foetus experiences pain during the procedure. I think that it is far too risky to skate so close to the time when a foetus develops those connections because it would be appalling if even one foetus felt that happening to them. Religion is irrelevant to my argument, and should be, as many people don't believe.

@moretac I thought you all were celebrating John Kennedy's arguments. As for human rights, I think the woman's human rights matter too.

@moretac Simple. Until that is a viable living being that could survive separately from the woman's body, without her circulation, immune system and so on, then it is a part of her body that she can do as she wants with.
