Despicable. This is why I believe unions are the worker's only defence.
2
I was thinking the same. Geothermal is an obvious solution for winter in Germany.
2
Hear! Hear! Even a lot of poor people could afford a car, then, even if they only subsidised the smaller vehicle for $2000 Australian dollars.
2
How long have we used coal, and not a single super volcano eruption, just out of control global heating.
2
Sadly, that company is being sold. Perhaps the plan will go head, but likely not the undersea cable. The power will be sold locally, and used for hydrogen, too, I've heard.
2
@andret4403 Even if China had used all coal energy to manufacture the batteries and solar panels it would still be a minute amount of CO2 emission compared to the amount of CO2 emissions ultimately saved over the lifetime of the batteries and solar panels.
2
We're in the middle of an energy revolution comparable to the original development and role-out of electricity; it's newsworthy.
2
😂😁👏Take that, you foolish nuclear energy promoters.🤣
1
@freeheeler09 Me too!🙂
1
@skygge1006 Nor did I say batteries would "magically be summoned." I said supply follows demand. And as demand has skyrocketed due to massive increases in new solar - so too is supply skyrocketing and being massively ramped up at the moment. Check out the figures if you don't believe me. We need new battery investment, NOT new gas investment, as the corrupt Australian government keeps trying to fool us we do.
1
@dirkmirk767 According to the Australian Government's own press release from the Department of Energy and Environment, solar, wind and battery energy is now the cheapest form of energy in Australia. Get it?
1
What a great technology for the many coastal cities around the world !
1
@zoransarin5411 Wow! This sort of analyses needs to be more widely disseminated ! The number of Australians falling for the "we need nuclear" narrative is growing, up 30% over the last couple of years.
1
@jimgraham6722 Rubbish. Nuclear is way more expensive than solar, wind and battery storage combined. You are spouting stats that you think no-one will be able to check, but numerous studies have already proved you wrong, worldwide and in Australia.
1
YES! Electric Viking! The Chinese have played Putin like a fiddle! While he pushed this war to expand his gas interests, China rubbed its hands in glee and lowered the prices on their solar panels, windmills, and batteries, and stepped into the breach. It's wonderful irony.
1
I LOVE Andrew Forrest. Thanks, Twiggy, if you should happen to read this!
1
Thanks so much to the Terminator!
1
Awesome! Combined with the dramatic decrease in the price of solar panels due to the price war in China (and the kick-on effect of that) this should be a game changer for Aussie solar power!👏👏👏👍
1
Spot on.
1
Electric Viking! Who do you think, personally, will be the best electric car company, and battery company, to invest in?
1
Can you do a specific forecast for we Aussies when you get a chance? I love your show, it gives me hope.
1
@changingplacestoiletfinder8061 Chinese make many excellent products these days.
1
@ledsalesoz I haven't seen it, but I have seen videos of how great these are for getting out of bogs, and driving up gullied, hilly, dirt roads.
1
Nuclear power IS NOT CLEAN! What about the radioactive WASTE?! That's NOT "CLEAN." I expect better from you.
1
@kokofan50 How do you measure that. Pop up your comparative stats! Does solar pollute for hundreds of thousand years? Hmm? NO - IT DOESN'T.
1
@kokofan50 That's not statistics, that's opinions.
1
@kokofan50 That's what sensible people do, reject arguments that aren't backed by evidence.
1
@kokofan50 Prove me wrong. You can't.
1
@kokofan50 You're so ridiculous. According to the US EPA, radioactive waste takes up to HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of YEARS to decay. See - I CAN prove I'm right - and it was EASY.
1
@nio6297 And I would posit that pumped hydro is a mad investment also when you consider how many river systems are already drying out around the world due to failure of rainfall, and snowfall, in the catchments, due to climate change. That will only worsen as climate change progresses.
1
@higreentj Fabulous! Where is that?
1
I was worrying about the same thing. ... Especially super volcanoes, or something.
1
@AndrewLumsden You just made @jebes look like an utter twit.
1
@AndrewLumsden True.
1
Look at the rate of Germany's uptake of solar.
1
@ Tibetans have never seen themselves as subject to China. Get it?
1
@ Tibet was not part of China. It was Tibet. That is what Tibetans say, and they did not appreciate the destruction of their temples, and the murder of their monks, en masse by imperialist China. I have spoken to Tibetan refugees, and that is what they told me, first hand. China persecuted them for their cultural practices, and their religions.
1
@ I'm Australian.
1
@henrycarlson7514 So what? It's thanks to China that we can roll out what solar we are rolling out. If it had been left up to the U.S. (with its fossil fuel infiltrated governments) we'd have no hope as a world to save ourselves from climate change. It's the U.S's own fault that they aren't at the forefront of solar panel production. I thank China from the bottom of my heart.
1
@onsendiva4695 Not every Australian is as xenophobic as you are. Also, the largest shareholders in capitalism are robbing people (including you) of what is rightfully theirs, as citizens. Just look at what the "healthcare" system is doing to people in the US. A reckoning will come for them, sooner or later. Within a matter of 50 years or less, I predict a revolution in the USA. Mangione was just the forerunner.
1
Exactly.
1
@alan2102X That's better. But it's true that we must stop building new fossil fuel power generation to stop increasing the greenhouse gases in our atmosphere. We shouldn't be building ANY new fossil fuel plants at all.
1
Shelter that shades a crop from the fierce sun in the middle of the day, while exposing crops to morning and afternoon sun, is desirable in many places. It stops heat stress, and slows evaporation of moisture from the soil.
1
@johnhancock2667 In large parts of the world they don't need full sun in the middle of the day at all.
1
@peterclose1817 It's as if you don't have ears to listen. China already produces enough solar energy to power every home in China.
1
I hope they didn't turf out any natives to build it. If you know Adani, you know what I mean. Otherwise, good!
1
Jojoba oil is better for the skin. It's like sebum.
1
Wow! A genuine psychic! You must make a fortune on the Lotto, mate. @grantbuttenshaw
1
Better put a bet on that, as you are certain you'll win. I suggest a really, really big bet. @grantbuttenshaw

Musk probably wants an excess of applicants so that he can have them bid against each other for the jobs, driving down pay. More for the billionaires, less for the serfs.
