Because of the prior government's protecting fossil fuel company political donors with their phoney, and redundant, "gas led recovery," which locked in contracts to allow gas peaker plants to "stabilise" the electricity supply at 70X-80x the market price, when battery technology can do the job much faster and more cheaply. CORRUPTION - that's "how come."

  9.  @maxvandenberk7506  Nuclear is also the SLOWEST form of energy generation to construct, so it has far less chance of saving us from the worst of climate change, anyway. So, overall, the worst choice.
