How fabulous! It's so sad America has lost this heritage! The Museum of the city of New York should be ashamed of themselves!

God! I hope they can save it! Thank Heavens this developer appeared on the scene! This is the most beautiful house I've ever seen. That brickwork and woodwork!

Wow! That is the most beautiful place you've shown yet! 🤩 He was a great comedian. He always makes me amazed and amused.
11
Oh, yes! Same here! No matter how architecturally designed!

What a wonderful exterior to this mansion. The interior is not cohesive, though, and has a cobbled together look. I love seeing these old buildings, but I get so disappointed when you almost invariably say they were demolished 😔.

Drayton Hall gets my vote. Beautiful.

This one's beautiful, like a dream come true.

What stood out to me was the Margaret Crocker mansion. I want that mansion on a cliff overlooking the ocean, with a beautiful rhododendron and rose garden, with an orange orchard, and an arboretum.

Wow, what a fantastic suite of luxury boutiques that building would have made. Or a luxury hotel. So sad that people began to destroy these old masterpieces for modernisation during the 1970s in particular. I wish we had a channel like this describing the old buildings lost and standing here in Australia.

If only this house had survived. The kitchens in that house were among the most beautiful I've ever seen. Let alone the location.

Oh my God! THIS is now my favourite! I don't know how you manage to outdo yourself! 🤩

Fabulous.

Pathetic power grabbers and their destructive tendencies.

Excuse me, I'm very interested in original old wooden kitchen cabinetry, still installed in the old houses. Do you have any videos where you show this?
1
My thought is: how can you keep your voice so light as you narrate the destruction and devastation of such architectural beauty and its replacement by crude, ugly skyscrapers? 😢

@joesullivan-y9r Modern buildings are more shoddily built from less durable materials. Why would they be any less expensive to maintain?
1
@joesullivan-y9r All of these old buildings are made of stone about a metre thick (at least). Modern buildings are made of thin materials. So, no - not ridiculous at all.
1
 @joesullivan-y9r They won't last.

@rekker2688 Good. Such places are meant to be lived in, not used as soulless museums.
1
@rekker2688 I've been there, and I love museums and art galleries. I studied art. I just think houses are better when lived in.
1
@rekker2688 I agree. That is so very sad. Luckily some people are buying and restoring them these days. Better than letting them rot.

@SixOhFive She is on the list of the top five bestselling authors of all time.

@liannebedard5521 I agree, but millions don't! It's a style and genre that's paid off big time for her. Clever woman.

Imagine what America would look like if it had kept all its Victorian era, Gilded Age and Art Deco mansions! I shake my head in disbelief whenever I watch this channel.

I HATE how they tore down all those beautiful houses for stupid skyscrapers.
