It always strikes me as pathetic how so many Russians claim to be so far removed, so above, the scheming manipulations of politics, and on another, somehow superior, plane; as if they don't even realise they are deeply enmeshed in a power structure that controls their lives in myriad unavoidable ways. They are so naive and irresponsible, like children or childish teenagers (not that all teenagers are childish).
