Seeing as they have no say, or choice in the matter I suppose they have decided to tell themselves it isn't so bad. Just like women in abusive relationships lie to themselves, often until they are strangled to death, or beaten to within an inch of their lives. Even then, many of those who survive are so lacking in clarity of what is right and wrong, that they stay with the abuser. The whole Russian population is in an abusive relationship with a leader who uses power and control to maintain his tyranny. No wonder so many lie to themselves about it; where can they go for help - unless they leave the country?
