  1.  @kentonian  Even if God isn't real, believing in God can help some people survive emotional wounds they couldn't face or accept on their own. Try looking at it that way, and have some compassion for others, and how they survive the hardships and horrors of this world. That's my 2 cents worth, anyway.

  2.  @LudmilaCrimeaRussia  An individual's sexuality is a private matter, I agree. It's undignified to flaunt sexuality of any persuasion in front of the public's eyes; gay or straight. Is that what you mean?

  3.  @BliniusSpoykoch  Kissing is fine. That's an expression of intimacy, as is hugging or caressing a cheek, for example. I think that's fine, whether gay or straight, in public. It's when people cut out the area of their pants that covers their butt cheeks, or strap a dildo on and then gyrate on a float in front of a crowd that it becomes "flaunting." The former is a natural expression to one's partner, the latter is an ostentatious public display, designed to attract attention. You see, I don't need a vocabulary lesson from you, especially as you don't appear to know the meaning of the word flaunt, yourself.

  4. I'm not "conflating" God with a "set of (harsh) rules" at all. I was talking about faith in a loving and kind God, by people who have been victims of the horrors and hardships of this world. Not everyone who believes in God believes God is a harsh judge. Those who taught me about Christianity taught me how Jesus did NOT judge the prostitute who wished to be in his presence, and washed his feet with her tears. On the contrary, Jesus admonished his followers who condemned her. I was taught that God is love. I find it sad that so many have only been taught that God is a harsh judge.

  6.  @KellyMacgillberg  I was merely making the point that you and many others always interpret religious faith of any kind as hateful, whereas many understand it as a pathway to growing compassion and acceptance of others. If you find compassion and acceptance of others as your enemy that says more about you than about the people who interpret religious faith this way. It looks to me like you categorise people into "enemy" groups. That's sad.
