Not everyone feels that a life worth living necessitates "making a major contribution, " as the good doctor does. Nevertheless, I agree that being reasonably vigorous and mentally active, and therefor able to enjoy, rather than suffer life is a rational goal. For this reason I believe that healthcare should focus rather more on preventative healthcare. In the particular case of cancer, a majority of treatments only prolong life for a number of months, unfortunately, whereas healthy diet, exercise and sleep helps avoid it altogether.
