Inside Out is definatley missing something. Maybe you could say its missing any spiritual dimension. The Emotions just squabble over every stimuli that Riley encounters, but there's no overall telos or agenda for Rileys mind. Riley also has no internal voice - it's literally Joy talking in the mind most of the time, and is countered by Sadness or Anger. Maybe if they had it that Riley had an 'internal self' that appeared as the Boss of the Emotions in the cockpit like the captain of the Starship Enterprize, and is simply advised by the Emotions. That would be a good representation of logical and conscious thinking.

Personally I dont beleive in the idea of gender-idenitty at all. We all have a sex, and that doesn't change, and ontop of that we have slight variations of genes and hormonal profiles, and atop that we have individual differences, experiences and preferences.

Im skeptical of Malcoms stance that negative emotional states arent necessary ever and you should just stop feeling them as soon as possible.

@maikv750 absolutely. Negative stages like a breakup are cognitively complex . They need to be engaged with deeply. Something like grief is simpler I think because the death of a loved one is deep - but also simple - whereas a failed relationship is complex

@stephenhoughton632 yes , and so there is no such thing as a gender identity that is incongruent with societal role. There are only people who’s personality of clothing preferences may not fit with societies constructed sex role

Cult is a tricky word - I see how you can say that the farleft urban monoculture ideology can classify as a cult - on the other hand, you guys are creating your own religion with unusual and extreme views and strictures. How is that not a cult in the making?

I apologise for not quite understanding your positions on things, but here's a concern that springs to mind. The way of life you outline in the Tracts is progressive anti-body transhumanism. Humans must advance with technology and devote ourselves to furthering it, which will free future generations from the human condition and allow us to be totally logical, sexless, hungerless beings. Devotion to technological progress is the eternal self-sacrifice demanded by 'God'. I see this as quite close to the 'Urban Monoculture'. They also want devotees to devote every moment to progress (but they focus on social justice and progress rather than technical), and they are also very anti-body and anti-nature. They also have a hyper-intellectual, autistic type of view, wherein bodies can be modified and changed in accordance with our mental ideas (our gender identities). They tend to believe we are minds who, unfortunately, possess bodies that limit our freedoms in an oppressive society that must be overthrown in revolution to find an equalitarian utopia. We are blank slates. Dosent your belief system share that essential tenant? We are blank slates, who must intellectually redefine and choose our identities. The degree to which our physical bodies and evolved history impinge on our total mental freedom of self-redefinition is just an unfortunate stain that will soon be scrubbed out. The state must be made blanker and blanket with technology so that we can hurtle towards progress unimpeded by such things as desires, feelings, emotions, yuck.
