I'd better wish for cybernetic vision implant.

Public should look into backup technological solutions for communication in case government decides to shut down internet.
72
And that's a good thing - for ruling elites.
11
Making everyone dependent on AI is one of the goals of AI companies, like ChatGPT. Choking out the previous traditiona' tech is another.

Check out the life work of a brilliant IT scientist of the past century Douglas Engelbart. He did some amazing things at the dawn of computing, including being involved with the 'mouse' manipulator invention. Anyway his vision was to augment and expand human mind capabilities with the help of computers, not supplant the human mind - but even then almost everyone cared only about automating the office tasks instead.
5
And the AI reinforcement learning is utilizing something akin human emotional system: when we do something properly we feel good, if impropely - bad.

@whosthis2835 Fearing exploding batteries? ;) Understandable. Of course, we're talking here about technologies that don't really exist now, at least in fully realized, ready for public use form. Hence, arguing implementation details might be a little premature.

"Fake it till you make it"

The ruling elites don't mind the masses getting dumber - they would be easier to control!

Something that requires less works vs something that requires more? Hmm, what my mammal brain would choose?

The road to Idiocracy!

Let's see Paul Allen's chat bot...

Also, relationships got more toxic in recent times...

Apple: Let's remove all buttons besides one from the mouse, that's gonna be a revolution!

The modern system is not human-centric, it's profit-centric - profit for the wealthy. Housing is expensive, raising kids is expensive. The majority has no good future in this system.
2
Gut AKA an intuition, or unconcious thinking.
2
Exploitation creates poverty. Financial services won't lift masses out of poverty. You need to develop economy and infrastructure to increase the quality of life of people.
2
I bet sometime in the future there'll be a religion based on this idea.
2
Maybe people fatigued by AI imagery will finally go out at touch the REAL grass? Nah, who am I kidding?
2
Generations gradually lose the skills of proper human relationship. You can't just make all those lonely people form relationships, they don't know how. Many of the lonely people were harmed by bad relationships.
2
Hyper-reality, as the next level of abstraction is simply inevitable.
2
Selling us products will not make us less lonely.

If you worship money and things, if they are where you tap real meaning in life, then you will never have enough, never feel you have enough.
1
Has become or appear sentient? That's a major difference.

Uncanny Valley still there.

F*ck Windows Phone, cause it's the sole reason we saw an attempt to forcefully implant the mobile interface onto desktop with Windows 8, and in result we had another fail from MS. Also, beautiful is subjective. Me personally, always hated "Metro" with its ugly sharp edges, lack of shades, and flatness.

Atom bomb was Oppenheimer's vanity project.
1
@w花b It's layman terms to describe and understand the basic universal concept. 'Back propagation' is implementation details.

13:15 Oh, I see where US got an idea for excuse to do something horrible. In Iraq the have also "found" bioloical weapons...

You are a believer

Even if so, it still is gonna be cheaper to pay for a human servant (much cheaper). So, the house work robots is not something we would see in normal life anytime soon.
1
When housing became large institutions' investment asset and artificial scarcity that's when future generations got f%cked...
1
@tar-yy3ub Direct help will maybe help select families but won't help the masses. Without solving structural problems of the society not much will change.
1
It would have been unusual if selected influencers were not praising a new big product, don't you think?
1
RIP middle class, welcome to precarity. AI will only accelerate this trend.

And people in the last century thought that by 2020 we'll be using flying cars already. SciFi predictions of the future tend to not happen in the timescale we envision, reality always has something different in store. Anyway, new advanced tech is expensive, and it's gonna take a long time to implement en masse, even after it gets cheaper.
1
@xSkyWeix SOME things today were sure envisioned in SciFi. Working fusion? Hmm, I thought the problem was not in it simply working, but working efficiently, producing more energy that it itself required. I have a more pragmatic looking at new advancements.

I see robot servants for the wealthy.
